classical music and 50s rock and roll- just one weekend!

firstly ill stick to the classical part!as you may know im a classical violinist and after a wonderful year foraying(not sure that this is a word) into the trad scene im trying to get my classical mojo back!much harder than i thought,i never knew my wrist turned that way and my arm bent like that but apparently it does but not without lots of practice! so this week i have been delving back into my classical library on my computer and pulled some of the most inspirational pieces i could find to get me back into the flow!these would be
1- Vaughn williams either the lark ascending or symphony no5 ( by the way i do apologise, nomrally i would supply links to these but because of my rubbish internet i cant do much more than type tonite so i promise they will be uploaded at some other date)
2- elgar violin sonata- also a piece i am playing and i have to admit although im quite an up beat person angry pieces are the best to play, you get to take out all that rage!
3- aaron coplands piano concerto- at the start this piece reminded me of a tom and jerry cartoon, you gotta listen to understand but now im in love with it!
so hopefully with the help of these guys and the patince not to smash my violin off a nearby hard surface ill get my classical mojo back and rock next year.........hopefully!

the second half of this blog has got to touch on the excellant night had last nite which is the annual event of lietrim festival!i mentioned this in a previous blog but seriously there is nothing better than getting up and dancing ludacrisly in my case to some excellant 50s rock and roll music performed my aged bald men in gold haulographic suits with metal studded wife beaters on!i mean nothing beats it! and despite how silly it sounds out of context it is brill craic and yes this may have had something to do with the tequilla shots which were librarly poured out my N however i dont anything beats doing the chevy shuffle or dancing to "do you love me"!a highly recommened event!:-)

rambling!!!

hello peeps!sorry its been so long since my last post but i have been very busy up here in the land of no internet! but i have been thinking about what makes a good summer up in down! and have finally compiled the list of things which make my summer lovely!

1. chevys! this will mean nothing to anyone who has not beent here and done it but it entails packing as many people as you can into a marqee on a GAA pitch and listening and dancing wildly to 50's rock and roll!oh yes, its the good old life!

2. no internet- a slightly perverse one this one but it means that you appreciate it even more when you get it and look forward to lovely emails from peeps!also means i have to get off my ass to see my friends instead of just facebooking them!all good!

3.yoga- thanks to miss H ive been coerced into keeping up my yoga and still trying to put my leg behind my head.....which by the way im getting close to but not as close as miss H, however the girly giggle time afterwards makes up for all that work!especially since miss H always makes a mean cup of tea!

4. i have to say work is gonna be my number 4, because i work with a lovely load of nutters who actually make work fun, with epic games of eye spy, and the gossip which goes on whilst whipping up a batch of ice cream!

5. archery- although i have been slightly remiss in my archery training, i have now got a range set up in the back yard and after a few near misses at a very lucky sheep and the oil tank, i have now got it sussed!

6. second hand book shops in unexpected places- as you may know i am a regular book work but the other day i went for a lovely walk round a big estate with me mum and found the best little book shop tucked away in the courtyard, where you can buy sheakespeares complete work for a pound!sure you couldnt get better than that!

7. finding a house for next year with C&C, its gonna be brill!:-)

goodness me there are loads more not to mention, family, freinds and excellant nites out!however these are the ones that have gone on this week!:-)

the nightmare that is my room!!!!!!!!

Ok peeps, it has come to my attention that i am expected to vacate my property in the next few days which means packing up my entire life into one....extremely small car! However the only thing that can make this hours of scrutinising over what to keep and what to throw out better is packing music!!! its my favourite thing about packing, I get to put my music library on shuffle and find some jems i havent heard in years. So here is my top 5 packing songs

1. Otherside- Red hot chilli peppers

2.Maps- Yeah yeah yeahs

3.Misery buisness- Paramore

4.Heart shaped wood- Mike mc Goldrick

5. Proud and Humble- Imelda May

any additions i should listen out or let me know!!:-)

wake up call!!!

Good morning everyone!I think as its a monday we should start our week off right....with a little rock and roll. Now I often use a few bands to wake myself up in the morning but nothing... and i mean nothing can beat this band. Ok , i may be a little biased since they are from my hometown but give it a try and see if they cant make you do a little air guitar in the shower.

Radio times

Last nite I sat down with K to listen to the debut of UL's first years plus me on national radio! During the last year i have been part of an ensemble class with possibly the most lovable, craziest people i have ever met but its been awfully entertaining! Thanks guys for such a fun ensemble class and you all sounded class!:-) if anybody wants to listen to us rocking up a storm the programmes available for a week at http://www.rte.ie/radio1/ceilihouse/

Soundtracks

Lately me and all my friends have been a little stressed out about studying but with some helpful hands from our friends Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Thomas Newman and my personal favourite of the moment Rachel Portman, we all seem to be struggling along. Apparently its even been proved that listening to music whilst studying can help you retain information. Whats your favourite soundtrack?
